Maine Coon Cats grow at a rapid rate. Pictured below are some examples of this growth. They do not get their adult coat until their second year of growth.

 It takes 4 years for a Maine Coon to reach full maturity. They get as long and as tall as they will be the first year. Then, they muscle up and gain additional weight the second and third year.

Maine Coon cats really enjoy cat trees and scratching posts.  It is a necessity to provide them

 with an alternative to scratch on other than furniture, curtains, etc.

This breed if very dog-like in nature and make wonderful pet-companions.

 I would like to warn you however, that they are very addictive. It is really hard to own just one!
